Oh a happy day it is! We are blessed to still live in a free country – at least for now. Because we are approaching Thanksgiving in America, we ought to be especially grateful for this freedom. Whether we maintain our freedom or not, the Lord is still on His Throne. It reminds me of the hymn “I Don’t Know About Tomorrow.” I especially love the refrain:
Many things about tomorrow,
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know who holds tomorrow,
And I know who holds my hand.
Friend, because God exists in the past, present and future, He absolutely knows everything that is going to happen. He’s 100% accurate in the prophecies of the Bible and none have failed. (1 Samuel 15:29 KJV) We can be guaranteed that the prophecies of Revelation will most certainly happen! You can take the Bible’s prophecies to the bank, so to speak.
Today’s prophecy depicts the Messiah speaking in parables. The phrase, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear” appears six times in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Those people who hungered to hear what Jesus Christ had to say, would seek Him out to explain the parables. The others merely mocked Jesus or walked away; they sought Him only to see signs as well as be fed. They sought the carnal side of Jesus’ ministry, not the spiritual side.
The prideful heart does not desire to hear the Good News of the Messiah. Their pride blocks their ears and they cannot hear or understand the things of God. We can compare it to being under water. When someone is speaking above water, it sounds muffled. If we really want to hear what that person has to say, we have to come out of the water in order to hear them clearly. A seeking heart will hear what God has to say in His Word. However, those who do not want to hear will find others who believe in the same things as they do and justify that they are on the right track. Jesus spoke in parables to attract the hearts that were seeking. The prideful Pharisees and Sadducees didn’t want to hear and they totally missed the purpose of Jesus’ messages!
Being a religious Catholic in my early years never once led me to salvation. I never heard about salvation, let alone what salvation was all about. What I was taught was that I had to do what I was told to do according to the Catholic church. Salvation is works-based to them, not free for the taking. Jesus paid it all! He paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross! This sacrifice was ONCE for all (Hebrews 10:10 KJV)! The Catholic church sacrifices Jesus every time the mass is said. Rather than look at His resurrection (which occurred only once), they look to His death. It is not in Jesus’ death that we have salvation; for if He just died and did not rise from the dead, His death would have been like anyone else’s! Don’t you see the importance of His resurrection? No other “god” can claim this!
Do you know Jesus Christ, the Messiah, personally or do you only know of Him? I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Have you received Christ as your Saviour? If no, your sins are not covered by His sacrificial offering of Himself. You have not been redeemed by His blood. It is no coincidence that God has placed you here for such a time as this so that you may be saved if you are not already.
