Day 14 – Eternality

(Ps 119:160) Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

How beautiful the words of the Psalmist are! Not only does he state it in verse 160, but he proclaims the Word’s eternality several times more:

(Ps 119:144) The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.

(Ps 119:152) Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

(Ps 105:8 ) He hath remembered his covenant for everthe word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

(Ps 119:89) LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

(Isa 40:8 ) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

(1 Pet 1:23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

(1 Pet 1:25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (emphasis mine)

No matter what man may say, God’s Word is true and it has, does, and willcontinue to abide forever! Over and over it is repeated in the Bible that God’s Word is eternal. With this much repetition, it stands to reason that He would preserve His Word throughout the ages without corruption. I have been attacked by catholics saying that we do not have the preserved Word of God in today’s language because it was corrupted by man. Furthermore, their defense has been that King James was a homosexual and that the King James Bible is filled with error. All this coming from the faithful catholics whose doctrines come from the pits of hell itself and they don’t even know it! The devil would love nothing more than to side track man and keep man from the very Word of God that is able to save their souls! I know this sounds harsh, but just looking at the catholic catechism (which most won’t even take the time to research) will reveal these heresies!

It does not take rocket science to understand why the catholic church believes that only its leaders can correctly interpret the Word of God! The catholic church wants its members to stay in the dark and believe whatever it teaches. It isn’t the richest church in the world for no reason. Christ had no where to lay his head. The Apostles did not wear rich robes nor did they live a comfortable life. No, in fact, they were martyred for the preaching of the Gospel. But the leaders of the catholic church are decorated in rich clothing, their churches filled with gold, yet people are going hungry all around them. If the catholic church had the power of Christ here on earth, they would not be hording their riches but using those riches for the glory of God. There is no sadder state of affairs than that of the catholic church. They are rich in wealth but poor spiritually. (Mar 8:36) For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Man’s heart is wicked and nothing good comes from it. We cannot trust the heart of man but we surely can trust the Word of God. (Jer 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Man’s words are false, but God’s word is true.
God’s word has been true from the beginning of time – from the moment it was first “spoken” by Jesus Christ (John 1:1) through all eternity. The word “for ever” means without beginning or end. I know that it is hard for man to imagine this because our minds are so finite. But God is infinite and we need to wrap our brains around that.

Not only is He infinite, but He never changes. (Heb 13:8 ) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Heb 13:9) Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.I find it interesting that immediately following the verse about the infinity of Jesus Christ, the Word says not to be carried about with strange doctrines! That speaks volumes to me! It is the strange doctrines of man (including those of the catholic church, Islam, mormonism, and all other cults) that pervert the Word of God. Search these things out for yourselves and compare what you find with the Word of God!

So what can we depend on? We can depend on the steadfastness of God because He is infinite. He is from the beginning – He is eternal – His Word is sure – His Word is forever – His Word is righteous and holy! My friend, this is all we have to count on in this world. The world is wicked beyond measure and every man is in need of salvation. Why would you trust the words of men when the Word says that all men are wicked and have sinned?

(Jer 2:29) Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.

(Rom 3:23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

(Rom 5:12) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Why can you not believe that God is Perfect and, therefore, He is able to give you His Word without error? It takes more “faith” to believe in the doctrines of men than it does to simply believe that God’s Word has been preserved and is final. It’s like the “Theory of Evolution” – it takes more “faith” to believe that everything evolved from a “big bang” than it does to believe in a Creator. After all, ask yourself this: “Who/what brought about the bang?” It just didn’t happen! Someone/something had to make it happen.

The Word of God never changes. His demands for salvation are the same today as they were in the past. The blood of a spotless lamb was required of the Jews and was fulfilled through the perfect, sinless life of Jesus Christ and His shed blood. The Jews’ sacrifice was done with the view of an upcoming Messiah. Our sacrifice (the born-again Christian) was complete in Jesus Christ. There is no need to sacrifice Him afresh every day. In fact, the Word says (Heb 6:4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, (Heb 6:5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (Heb 6:6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. What does the catholic church do with these verses?

“In this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner.” Pg. 344, #1367

“When the Church celebrates the Eucharist, she commemorates Christ’s Passover, and it is made present. As often as the sacrifice of the Cross by which Christ our Pasch has been sacrificed is celebrated on the altar, the work of our redemption is carried out.” Pg. 343, #1364

As the Council of Trent says, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church repeats:

“. . . by the consecration of the bread and wine there takes place a change of the whole substance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord and of the whole substance of the wine into the substance of his blood. This change the holy Catholic Church has fittingly and properly called transubstantiation.” Trent pronounces an anathema against those who deny transubstantiation.

I wrote all this to say that if man teaches something contrary to what the Word of God states (which is eternal and never changing), what do you do? Do you believe God or man? It’s a simple deduction, my friend. What will you choose today? Do you actually believe that you won’t be held accountable by God for believing in the distortions of His Word? You will be held accountable for what you believe and what you have applied as truth in your life. (Ps 10:13) Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. God will require accountability from you. In fact, He tells us to study His Word so that we are approved unto Him! (2 Tim 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Tim 2:16) But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. If we are to study the Bible to be approved unto God (not the catholic church, not Joseph Smith, etc.), then why do you believe what the church has taught and not what God has taught? It is to the Lord God of Glory, the Almighty God, that we are accountable to.

Where does one draw the line when it comes to false doctrine? How much arsenic does it take to kill a person? Will you allow yourself to be filled with the perversions of mankind or will you stand strong in God’s Word and let it cleanse you and teach you?

(Ps 119:165) Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Are you offended by what I have written today? I hope that you are! I hope that I have stirred you up so much so that you will study the matter out for yourself. Even if you start out to prove me wrong, just dig in the Bible for yourself! Don’t assume that what you have been taught is correct. Don’t assume that because you are a member of the largest church in the world makes you right. Judge yourself according to the Word of God, the True Measuring Stick! (1 Cor 10:14) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. (1 Cor 10:15) I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
