1 Cor. 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Another beautiful morning inside the hearts of believers! We have Christ’s light shining within us and we are illuminated by the blessed Holy Spirit through the Word of God! Doesn’t this excite you? How many books have you read that have inspired you to holy living? There are many self help books but no book but God’s Word can change the heart to live righteously through the Holy Spirit!
Today’s verse touches my aching heart. After all the suffering that our Blessed Saviour experienced, He has finally had enough physical trauma. But meditate for a moment. It wasn’t purely physical. The Lord took upon Himself every sin every committed, including mine! Just as the scapegoat of Leviticus 16:8 and Leviticus 16:10 was made an atonement and released in the wilderness, so was Christ our scapegoat. He became our atonement (Romans 5:11) on that cross. At this point, He was ready to die so that the rest of His mission could be accomplished!
I find it interesting that Luke the physician was the only one to put this in his gospel. He was witnessing this whole event with the eyes of a doctor. A doctor would most certainly be acutely aware of what happens at death. Another point that caught my eye is the use of the word “commend” in this verse. The Greek word for it is:
G3908 παρατίθημι paratithēmi par-at-ith’-ay-mee From G3844 and G5087; to place alongside, that is, present (food, truth); by implication to deposit (as a trust or for protection): – allege, commend, commit (the keeping of), put forth, set before.
The Lord Jesus said: “Into thy hands I commend my spirit:” Into the Father’s hands, Jesus placed His Spirit alongside. Into the Father’s hands, Jesus trusted the Father to protect His Spirit. Into the Father’s hands Jesus trusted the Father to keep His Spirit. Looking at this with my human mind, it makes me feel as though Jesus was seeing death at the door and He was turning everything over to His Father to protect as He gave up the ghost.
Do you know Jesus personally or do you only know of Him? I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Have you received Christ as your Saviour? If no, your sins are not covered by His sacrificial offering of Himself. You have not been redeemed by His blood. It is no coincidence that God has placed you here for such a time as this so that you may be saved if you are not already. Good morning, reader! Have you ever been falsely accused of something? I think we can all say that this has happened at one time or another, amen? The Lord Jesus went through this and it led to His death! I could say in my mind how unfortunate it was that He was falsely accused. However, in light of prophecy, I am thankful that this occurred! I’m sure this sounds awful on my part; but think about it. Had the Lord not suffered, died and arose, our sin debt would not be paid!
False accusers will always be with us. In fact, after the Rapture of all born-again Christians, the greatest accuser, Satan, (Revelation 12:10), will take command over this earth; first influencing the antichrist and second, actually possessing him! He worked through people during Christ’s day to send Jesus to His death. Because of Satan’s pride, he didn’t think Jesus would rise from the dead. Satan thought that Christ’s death was the end and that he (Satan) would rule this world. Well, his time will come during the Tribulation. He will rule through the Antichrist but his time will be limited. The Lord Jesus Christ, our Messiah, will conquer Satan and will rule and reign in the Millennium.
Today’s prophecy tells us that Jesus was falsely accused by many. In light of all the prophecies thus far (this is our 38th), we are seeing the immutable proof that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. I’ve quoted this before but it’s worth repeating at this point:
Josh and Sean McDowell quote Stoner in their book, Evidence That Demands a Verdict: “We find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 17th power (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000).” Jesus fulfilled MUCH more than 8 (Over 300)! So just think of those odds!
Friend, Stoner states that for only eight prophecies being fulfilled by Jesus is 1 to the 17th power!!! I’ve have given you 38 thus far, which is over four times more! Can you imagine what the chances would be? Meditate on the mathematical possibilities. There should be no doubt in your mind that Jesus Christ IS the Messiah! Do you know Him personally or do you only know of Him? I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Good morning, Reader! What are you thankful for today? I’m so thankful for the roof over my head and a warm home! So many are homeless and destitute – we need to remember how blessed we are, amen? Don’t take any of your blessings for granted as you can quickly lose those blessings. My personality is such that I usually have a positive attitude – the “cup’s half full” type. But there are times when circumstances overwhelm me and I have to turn to my Shepherd for direction and comfort. It’s a very appropriate title for the Lord Jesus! Is He your Shepherd? Have you ever studied the role of a shepherd?
Today’s prophecy depicts our Lord as a Shepherd. A former pastor, who has now gone home to be with the Lord, grew up in Oregon helping his father to raise sheep on his farm. He gave such great insight on what his shepherd’s duties were and so many of his duties are reflected in Psalms 23:1-6. First off, he would lead the sheep to a fairly level pasture to graze. There were other pastures he could use. However, those pastures had holes or divots in the ground and the sheep could possibly break a leg. Secondly, the pasture had to have a source of water where the current wasn’t swift and it also had to be fairly shallow. Why? If the water source was deep and had a strong current, the sheep could slip and fall into the water. The wool would then become saturated with water, heavy and the sheep would not be able to stand and would eventually drown. Another beautiful depiction of that shepherd is that he would sleep in the pasture with his sheep to protect them against predators. The shepherd would literally put his own life at stake in order for the sheep to survive a predator’s attack.
Jesus, our Shepherd, is not only Good, as depicted in the above verse, but He gave His life for His sheep. Each born-again believer is considered part of the Good Shepherd’s flock. To piggy back with the description of the shepherd’s job at the beginning of this post, Jesus also provides us with living water (John 14:10) and He leaves His sheep with peace (John 14:27). Our spiritual body will never thirst because Jesus provides that living water which gives us eternal life. His salvation will never cause us to thirst after what the world has to offer. His peace has been given to us so we will never have to worry about where we will spend eternity! It’s a shame that Israel has not experienced this yet. They could be enjoying fellowship with their Messiah but instead are blinded by the god of this world to believe that He has yet to come. They will miss the glorious Rapture when the saints are called up to meet our Messiah in the clouds!

Good morning, Reader! I hope that you are being blessed by this series. The goals of this blog are two-fold: (1) to tell others about salvation through Jesus Christ, and (2) to encourage Christians to look to the Rapture of the Saints before the Tribulation begins. I know that if even one soul is saved as a result, it will be worth it all! This is definitely an effort of love for the lost.
For me, today’s prophecy is another one of those “aha!” verses. David had many prophetic verses in this chapter of Psalms. Today’s is quite poignant as it refers to Christ’s pierced hands and feet. It breaks my heart to even meditate on the pain that Jesus went through! 😥 If you’ve read my previous posts that touched on the crucifixion of Christ, you know why I feel this way. I hope you have taken a moment to read about it.
The Apostle John records what he saw when he looked upon Jesus’ physical attributes. He saw Jesus being pierced and he saw Jesus telling Thomas to put his fingers in His side and hands. But notice what the results were! Thomas immediately believed and said, “My Lord and my God.” (John 20:28)
Jesus’ response to Thomas is recorded in the very next verse in John 20:29: Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. We are the ones that have not seen, friend! We are the ones that believe even though we haven’t seen. That is the faith of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20. There is no disputing when someone tells you their salvation story! Their life was immediately changed (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Mine certainly was! I was on the verge of a divorce, confused and depressed. I bought sleeping pills and was planning to end my life that very next weekend. However, God had something else in store for me. When I had decided the when and how, I received a call from my best friend in Northern Maine asking if she could come down to visit me during her vacation. Of course, it was a no brainer! However, she was a born-again Christian and I told her she could come but she could not preach to me as I was a die hard Catholic (even though I wasn’t practicing my religion at the time). Thank God this did not discourage her – her love for me was great! She traveled 1,000 miles to see me and had the prayers of her church family coming with her. At that time, I was an adamant follower of Nostradamus’ writings of the end times. She happened to have an audio tape of Hal Lindsey, author of “Late Great Planet Earth,” preaching at a church. His ministry was to go around teaching about the end times according to the Bible. My friend had no idea that I followed Nostradamus or even had an interest in the end times, but God did. It was the perfect tape to bring with her! It piqued my interest when she told me that she also was interested in the end times and had this tape by Hal Lindsey that was quite interesting. Indeed it was! I had no idea who he was so I didn’t think it had anything to do with her being born again. He explained using the Scriptures what was to happen during the Tribulation. He talked about the Rapture, which is something the Catholic church does not teach, nor does the Catholic church teach biblical salvation. It scared me so much that I would go through the Tribulation! He gave the Gospel message and was very thorough – so much so that I remember thinking that God would have to let me into Heaven because I had never heard these Bible verses about salvation before. At the moment that I had this thought, Hal Lindsey said, “And you can’t say you didn’t know because I just told you so“! God reached deep into my heart and showed me that my excuse was just obliterated and the light of His Word pierced my heart! I fell to my knees and asked His forgiveness for my sins and invited Him into my life to be my Lord and my Saviour. My life dramatically changed at that point! Jesus was now at the forefront of my thoughts every day and I had a tremendous desire to learn all I could about Him. My friend had packed a Bible in her suitcase so she was ready to disciple me as best she could in the few days she had left of her vacation. I now know Jesus Christ personally, just as Thomas believed when He touched Jesus’s hands and side. Thomas believed by sight but I believed by faith! The Apostle Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus. You can read about it in Acts 26:12-18. Jesus told Paul that his mission would be to tell everyone how they can be saved. Acts 26:18 says it all: To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
