1 Cor. 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Jewish Feasts and Jesus Revealed – Passover Seder

A good morning to you!! As we continue studying the topic of the Passover, we see that the Jews celebrate a meal that they call the Seder. This is something that Jews do as a memorial of their exodus from Egypt. I watched a Messianic Jew perform the Seder where he explained each phase. Although it’s nice to know how Christ is represented in each phase, the Seder is not for Christians. We are not required to keep the Feasts because we already know Christ as our Messiah. The only thing that was required of the Christian Gentiles to follow were told to us in Acts 15:28-29. The Feasts point the Jews TO Jesus so they will see that their Messiah is revealed in each of these.

So let’s discuss the Seder. The Seder is the traditional dinner that Jews celebrate during Passover. The definition of Seder is “order.” As you can see in the picture above, there appears to be an order in the food displayed. There’s also an order in the prayers and songs. Each food item on the plate represents an aspect of the Jews flight out of Egypt and being freed from slavery. It’s really quite touching. It’s a wonderful reminder of what they went through! It’s also pretty amazing that Jews all around the world are celebrating this Seder in the same manner.

As a Christian, we look at this tradition as our school teacher and rejoice that Christ is our Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7). Do you see the bone in the picture above? This is known as the shank bone of a lamb. Christ is represented in this very shank bone as it relates to the lamb that was slaughtered for the Passover. We also can correlate it to John 19:36 where not a bone of Christ’s body was broken while He was on the cross. As the Passover lamb provided salvation for the Jews out of Egypt, so does our Passover Lamb provide salvation as we come out of Egypt (a type of the world) into the glorious promised land of Heaven! This is why John the Baptist said in John 1:29, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

On the next post, we will cover other aspects of the Seder. Think about the whole purpose of the Passover and how it relates to Christ and the salvation He provides to all. Do you know Jesus Christ, the Messiah, personally or do you only know of Him? I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Have you received Christ as your Saviour? If no, your sins are not covered by His sacrificial offering of Himself. You have not been redeemed by His blood. It is no coincidence that God has placed you here for such a time as this so that you may be saved if you are not already. Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus – Day 6

Prophecy of Messiah:

Gen 22:8  And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Good morning, Reader! I hope you are finding this series as interesting as I am. I love to learn anything about the Lord Jesus Christ. I especially love to read how Scriptures prophesied of His coming and how He fulfilled that promise! Today’s post is especially exciting 😀

Why do you think the Bible says that God will provide “himself” a lamb? God could have said “God will provide a lamb.” But He didn’t: He said “God will provide HIMSELF a lamb”! It’s no coincidence that these words were chosen in this manner here. Think about it! Later in Genesis 22:13, a ram was “caught” in a thicket for Abraham to use as the sacrifice. Two things are shown to us here:

  • God provided the sacrifice (Abraham didn’t bring the lamb with him) (Genesis 22:7-8). Abraham did exactly what God asked him to do and Abraham trusted in God. After God saw Abraham’s faithfulness and obedience to Him, He made a way for Isaac to be saved and God provided the sacrifice for Abraham, as well as Isaac. Prophetically, the Word tells us that there would come a time where God would HIMSELF be that sacrifice.
  • God would provide HIMSELF as a sacrifice, through Messiah Jesus Christ, for all sins, not just those of Israel. After Christ died on the cross and became the living sacrifice for our sins, the promise to Abraham would now be fulfilled! (See Genesis 17:4)

Prophecy of Messiah Fulfilled:

Joh 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Just as God provided the lamb for Abraham, He provided HIMSELF as the Lamb of God for all mankind through Jesus Christ! Every word in the Scriptures is there for a reason. Verses point to another verse – the plan of redemption is foretold in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament; this is called the Red Thread of Redemption (which is a whole other study). When Jesus walked the earth, He did not have the New Testament; He quoted the Old Testament and preached from it.

The prophecy of Genesis 22:8 is fulfilled by the One and Only Saviour of mankind, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! Do you know Him personally or do you only know of Him? I want to be sure that anyone who reads the posts on this blog can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are going to Heaven. Have you received Christ as your Saviour? If no, your sins are not covered by His sacrificial offering of Himself. You have not been redeemed by His blood.
